Why it exists

Poetry Cloud turns three millennia of Chinese poetry into a navigable three-dimensional star field. Each historical poet is a cluster of stars and every poem has its own coordinate; the void between the stars stands for "all possible poems", unstored verse the app computes on demand. Inspired by Liu Cixin's short story 诗云. 32,657 poets and 933,857 poems in all.

Tried Poetry Cloud over a weekend. The 3D navigation is the interesting bit, moving through poet-clusters feels different from a flat search results page, though on my laptop the frame rate dropped when I zoomed out to see the whole galaxy. No onboarding on how coordinates map to poems, so I spent a few minutes guessing. Wish there was a way to bookmark a star for later. Decent concept, needs performance tuning before I'd show it to non-technical friends.
