Why it exists

A vibe-coded remake of X-COM: UFO Enemy Unknown that runs in the browser, no install. You start at Earth Command: drag a 3D globe, pick the site of your permanent headquarters, and choose a difficulty (the Veteran tier describes itself as the intended X-COM balance). Advance time at 1x, 5x or 30x to scan for UFO contacts, intercept airborne targets, then return to base and launch a recovery assault.

The README is one line and the site title says the rest: Blacksite: First Contact. TypeScript, shipped straight to GitHub Pages.

Base placement on a rotating globe, time compression at 1x, 5x and 30x, intercept the UFO and then launch a recovery assault: the loop survived the remake intact. The difficulty screen calls Veteran the intended X-COM balance and spells out threat percentages per tier, and your funding sits at pending before you have even placed a base, which is period-accurate council behaviour. It runs in a browser tab with nothing to install. 1994 me would have refused to believe that. I spent longer choosing a base site than I care to admit.
