Why it exists

RFPs and grant guidelines are long, dense and unforgiving; a single missed "shall" clause can disqualify an otherwise strong bid. ProposalBuddy turns the manual reading exercise into a structured, scored workflow: paste a procurement document, let one AI call extract every compliance line, deadline and evaluation criterion into a tagged checklist, draft responses per requirement or for all gaps at once, and watch a deterministic readiness score surface the mandatory gaps before you submit.

Every AI task routes through a single Supabase Edge Function gateway calling Gemini 2.5 Flash: the API key stays server-side, JSON output is validated before any database write, and pasted RFP text is treated as data rather than instructions, so a prompt injection buried in a procurement document cannot hijack the drafting.

Tried it on a small grant doc over the weekend, mostly to see if it'd catch buried requirements in appendix text. It did pull most of them, missed one formatting rule about page limits that was hiding in a footnote. Readiness score is a nice gut-check before submission, though I still reread everything myself. Not going to trust it blind on anything with real money attached, but fine as a first pass.
