Why it exists

A machine-readable, reconciled view of New York City Council discretionary funding, Schedule C, from FY2015 to FY2027, with a historical backfill going further still.

Every dollar was extracted deterministically from the Council’s own adopted-budget PDFs and checked line by line against the printed totals. The explorer charts adopted against itemised and drills down by category and by agency.

Went through this looking for patterns in discretionary allocations across boroughs. The reconciliation work from PDF budget docs is the real value here, that's tedious data entry most people skip. Setup was just a CSV download for me, no API or auth needed. Wish there was a way to filter by council member directly rather than scanning fiscal years manually. Useful reference if you're building anything civic-data adjacent.
