I went in expecting the usual idle-game shrug and stayed for the onboarding, which actually walks you through how card unlocks gate recipes before throwing you into gathering and crafting loops. The tutorial text is clear about what a station needs before you can use it, which saves a lot of guessing. My one gripe is the card-unlock log is buried two menus deep, so tracking progress means more clicking than it should.
I gave OpenPencil a look mainly through the lens of getting started, since that's usually where design tools lose me. The onboarding was reasonably clear about the prompt-to-canvas flow, though the concurrent agent teams concept needed more explanation than the docs currently give it. The design as code export is a genuinely useful idea if the underlying documentation catches up to it. Promising, but needs clearer docs.
